💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Great tune.
The end...exquisite.
An absolute legend blues player. MONSTER musician... GOD doesn't make musicians like this anymore.
...but, can you be "Wah Wah" Watson if you're using a phase-shifter?
The fact that he made the synth sound applicable in jazz fusion has taught me a lot (Cameleon etc)
Dang this is good at 55 years of age. A well aged recording of a great performer.
Sobrenatural
This is serious shredding ...before it was called that ....and before Gambale,Satriani,Malmsteen,Vai,Mancuso,Lane,Van Halen....and all of them have had the good grace to cite Allan as their major influence ❤❤❤❤
Just love Cannonball.. amazing alto..
Hehe.. crazy Don..
If this was not on film no one would believe it had happened. So much greatness on one stage. This needs to be on a disc or LP. If it is, I'd love to buy it. Let Me know.
Booker Ervin was a tremendous tenor, just wailing and ripping things apart in sustained phrases one after the other in that great Texas tenor sound he had. A terribly underrated musician. Thank you for this footage of him with Mingus. It's amazing to see his planted stance as he belted them out.
Had the pleasure of seeing Eddie Taylor with Hubert Sumlin, Carey Bell and the great Freddy Below in Berlin in the 1970s .... he was fabulous...
2:08 LOVE this run!
Can you imagine seeing this in 1974...
Mr. KB such a great guitarist & classy man.🌎🇺🇸😎
Slipknot? No Sister Is better
JAMMIN ON THE ONE. Cosby show reference.
Omg! Great to see!
Thank you so much for piecing together this historic footage and posting it. It's just amazing to see these musicians (Powell in particular) in action, playing the music we have known for many years from the album that was being recorded. And as a bonus we get to see Bud Powell playing "Sweet and Lovely" solo at 22:35 which of course does not appear on "Mingus at Antibes". Wow, thank you so much!!!
Sonno 60 anni che seguo jimmy Smith e sonno unuco qui al mio paese che lo conosco e faccio conoscere ma jazz qui non asiste ne anche per sogno
Love this , especially Folk forms…..whole concert is amazing.
I had the great honor of meeting Mr. Hooker in 1983 while he played at my college. Even had a few beers with him backstage after the awesome performance. Wish I had asked for an autograph (selfies werent a thing way back then) :>
Miss entertainers with natural talent not like today's manufactured slop
👏 👏 👏
Love this😊💕
STYLE!
Thank you for posting this. A once in a lifetime to see Grant Green perform after listening to him play for many years in records. But to see this giant produce such a singing, soulful, and melodic quality on the guitar is indeed a remarkable treat! And, Larry Ridley, who was one of college professors at Rutgers University is taking care of serious business.
I wish someone would do a louder version
The sound of the Midday sun in Down town LA.
I wonder if he was the drummer on the actual recording? or was it Odie Payne
Goat
Damm I miss John Lee et al…..they will never be forgotten or replaced!
Top shelf band here . Fred's drumming is tops and what a joy watching his smiling character as he plays !
Not many people who play guitar so well (and fiddle) can play harp at this level.
I never knew about this band. It's almost another soft machine... But a trio??? Somebody didn't know to count??
It says 'Allan Hallsworth WITH 'The Pat Smythe Trio' ..... 🙂 Which is why I didn't put 'The Pat Smythe Quartet'
I saw him play outside of Ray's music Emporium. 😉
This mf!
A Great Part of afro-american Historie and Culture. A Gift to the world. Tranks
JOHN LEE HOOKER!!! Go JOHN!! Boom Boom Boom Boom
George Benson developed his chops in J Mc griffs band !
Saw him in the early eighties. I think he was playing this same guitar. He was fantastic. Blew me away.
He son Cello just passed away last year he was a friend of mine from Chicago.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. He was my cousin, twice removed. I'm very sorry for your loss. May he rest in the light 🙏 and find eternal peace 🕊️. His spirit will always be remembered through his father's music.
Did you get to hear Oscar play in person ?
I wasn't born until 1975, so I didn't experience it myself. But my great-great-grandmother sure did.
Picasso painted realism unrivalled at 12 then went beyond. Tom Waits wrote songs as poignant as anyone could at the start of his career and became the Picasso of songwriters. Allan Holdsworh with a technique that could make McLaughlin blush moved beyond to become the Allan Holdsworth of guitarists.
